Everyone

Your marks have been posted with the 'virtual secretary' with FCSH and with ILNOVA.

It seems that FCSH does not have all of you regsitered. I suggest you check your enrolment status with FCSH. You need to ensure you have been registered with FCSH/Licenciatura courses.

In the meantime, below are your results for the 1st semester of B2.1.

Please consider the following:

1. If you have not submitted course work, as outlined in the course objectives, your overall average mark will reflect this.

2. PLEASE NOTE: If your mark is BETWEEN 8-9, there are exames de recurso on 15th February at 10.00 in room 0.03

It is your responsibility to ensure you abide by the course requirements.
If your mark is below 10, there are exames de recurso on 15th February at 10.00 in room 0.03

It is your responsibility to ensure you abide by the course requirements.

Preparation for READING ALOUD

READING ALOUD

To prepare for your oral exam on Monday 5th February you will need to read a short extract aloud.

You can practise at home by reading news extracts and listening. Choose from topics which are of interest to you.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/newsenglish/witn/index.shtml

Preparation for reading aloud:

A. Understanding content

Identify the genre: – review, news bulletin, poem etc.
Consider cultural context and cultural references
Understand the overall message/ content of the extract
Identify voices: narrator, speakers, tone, mood, emotion

B. Reproducing Message
1. Aim to convey the message – be dramatic, but within the genre.
2. Identify key words in a sentence and the corresponding sentence stress.
3. Accentuate the meaning of words, identify intonation, look for word linking.

C. Record yourself
1. Compare how you sound with the online model.
2. Identify the differences.
3. Listen again – us you MP3, ipod….. listen as much as you can.

Happy New Year to you all!

The Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. ~Hal Borland

Please bring the short stories on Wednesday 3rd. Remember the Wikipeadia work!
